    Rare German Award Plaque from 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
    Cast high-relief bronze, rectangular, 76 mm x 114 mm, 358.7 gm. Obverse two female figures shaking hands, left wearing a liberty cap symbolic of the United States, right wearing a crown representing Germany. At bottom in exergue, ARTA ARTIS VINCULA. Name of designer PETER BREUER at right edge. Inscribed in rectangular tablet at top PAUL KAUFMANN. Reverse architectural design, World's Fair scene showing the German Pavilion and Cascade Gardens. German inscription ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DEUTSCHLANDS BETEILIGUNG AN DER WELTAUSSTELLUNG IN ST. LOUIS MCMIV ("In commemoration of the German participation in the World's Fair in St. Louis 1904"). Designed by famous German artist Peter Breuer (1856-1930) and cast using the "lost wax" process by Gladenbeck & Son, Berlin.
