Baldwin/Burns Vibraslim electric guitar

Description

This Vibraslim hollow body electric guitar was made in 1966-1968 by Burns of London (a unit of the Baldwin Co. at that time) in the U.K. and assembled and set up in the U.S. by Baldwin.
Specifications of the design and history of the model are available from web sources. This guitar is in good working/playing and fair/poor cosmetic condition, has no structural damage, and includes many of the original parts but will need a major restoration to be fully functional. It is constructed of maple laminate and a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets with a 24.75” scale length. The original tuners, James Burns “Bar-O-Matik” pickups, Burns Rez-O-Tube bridge, pickguard, knobs, and electronic controls are in place but the headstock badge and back cavity access plates are all missing. It looks like the nut and neck binding (left side) have been replaced and the neck pickup bobbin is damaged (see photos). The neck is straight, the rosewood board in good shape, and the frets have plenty of life left. The tremolo arm is not original. The bridge works but I am not certain that it is complete. The saddle assembly is not working properly and has been altered with a piece of binding to make the guitar playable (see photo). Both pickups, the 3-way switch, pots, and jack all work as they should. While the guitar will need much work to be restored to original condition, it does play well and sounds great as is and there is no structural damage. There is checking (especially on the back of the body) and many blemishes on the original polyester finish (see photos). A non-original soft case will be included in the auction to protect the guitar during shipment (see photo).
Please note that this is an older used guitar that needs a lot of work to be fully restored. Please do not bid if you are expecting perfection or if you have no tolerance for surprises. I’ve tried my best to describe and depict the guitar accurately but after selling items on eBay for 18 years know that misunderstandings are possible.
