Vintage Hardback Book: Common School Literature by Westlake

Description

This collectible 1876 version of an American English primer is in good shape despite its age. The formerly red cover is faded and worn, with plenty of handling and shelf wear evident. The binding is starting to wear, but all 156 numbered pages are intact.
Size is 7" x 4 1/2".
Two names are inscribed in pencil on the inside front cover and front page, another penciled name is on the inside back cover, and a previous owner's name is inscribed in ink on the preface page. There are a few other penciled notes and marks in the book, which only serve as a curiosity to the collector who might wonder about the previous book owners' thought processes.
The type throughout the book remains very legible, with some fading on a few pages. This school book, filled with English literature excerpts and poetry, is a true gem.
