This software is a Virtual programmer for use with the Novation D-STATION or DRUMSTATION hardware.    It emulates a hardware editor in a software environment within the APPLE LOGIC audio/sequencer program (formerly Emagic Logic).     To use this software you MUST have a valid copy of LOGIC on your computer (see below) as well as a MIDI interface which connects your computer via MIDI cable to your hardware synthesizer.
This software CANNOT be used as a stand alone application under any circumstances.     It will NOT run in Ableton, Reason, VST or any other host - it is not a plug-in but a single importable layer of the Logic environment.
Upon purchase, you will ultimately receive a ZIP archive of the editor you purchased for Logic.     UNZIP this archive and you will have a LOGIC song document you can now open in the Logic program (Mac v8-9 and vX are supplied - please request special version if needed).      Once open, you will see the editor on your screen and you can then discover the pleasures of a Virtual Programmer for your NOVATION synthesizer!

Logic X upgrades have been ported to earlier versions.    Previous buyers may contact me here for free upgrade to any version v4 - 9.      New features include two FULL RESETS for 808 and 909 sections, HYPERDRAW MIDI CC compatibility, and onboard selection of FACTORY PRESETS.
VERSIONS:
There are two different versions of the Drumstation - v1 and v2, and the D-Station.     Drumstation units are upgradeable to the v2 software with a simple IC installation.     Here is a text concerning the differences from the NOVATION web site:
What is the difference between the "V1" , "V2" Drumstations and the D-Station?
Older V1 Drumstations can have older software. The latest OS is 1.3. Most older Drumstations will have this fitted. All D-Stations will automatically have this fitted. Check this by powering the Drumstation up while holding down the Audition button. The display will show the OS version. (13 = OS version 1.3).
If the OS version of a V1 Drumstation is 1.3 then the only difference between the V1 & V2 Drumstation is THE BOX. That's it. Electronically and operationally these units are identical.
If you have a pre 1.3 OS in your v1 I cannot guarantee this programmer will work as I have never had that version of the software and cannot check.     It may be that these controllers are one of the upgrades in the 1.3 software.     Call Novation for the upgrade if you have a pre-1.3 OS and are experiencing problems -- or as an option, you may be able to re-assign the controller numbers on my editor to the actual controller numbers of the pre-v1.3 software.
OVERVIEW:
This editor controls all the various parameters of the D-Station / Drumstation that are controllable via MIDI messages - including tuning, volume, pan, cut, distortion, etc.    Every voice is represented visually with all of it's parameters in easy to read graphic colors.     It is effective for tweaking the sounds as your sequencer plays the music without your having to do so at the front panel of the unit.    A very streamlined page in the environment but with all the parameters for both the 808 and 909 sounds on screen at the same time.
All real time moves are recordable by the Logic sequencer for repeatable real time changes on playback - or you can automate using HYPERDRAW.      You may also remotely control these SYSEX faders and buttons via a hardware control surface if you take the time to tailor the controls to suit your individual hardware.     This is not difficult to do and needs only be done once and then saved for future sessions.
The editor resides in one layer of the LOGIC environment hierarchy - and is importable to your personal autoload song (notes on how to do so are included).

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
This editor is current but is still compatible with many earlier versions of Logic starting with Emagic MAC Version 4.x.     It is compatible with ALL versions of Logic through vX.   (Logic X v10.5 has a visual bug concerning button display - corrected in v10.6)
It is also compatible with Logic Express v7 - 9.     If you have a version 8 Logic you must use v 8.01 or higher which fixes a SYSEX bug that renders v8.0 inoperable.
This editor is also compatible with the v4 - v6 PC versions of Logic (please specify upon purchase).     In all v5's - it is compatible down to Logic SILVER.     NOT compatible with Micro-Logic or any of the other earlier neutered Emagic bundled versions.
This editor is designed to fit a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or larger but will also work on smaller screens.
